Dear Writer-Friends,

I've been self-publishing since 2011, and I've shared the knowledge I've gained in two books: the Indie Author Survival Guide, Second Edition, and For Love or Money. I'm not an indie rockstar or a breakout success: I'm one of thousands of solidly midlist indie authors making a living with their works. These books are my way of helping my fellow authors discover the freedom of indie publishing. Write on, writer-friends!

Will You Join Us for INDIEpendence Day?

When you think of "indie" or "self-published" novels (yes, I know some people don't use those terms interchangeably, but I do), what image is conjured in your mind? I hope your answer is "high-quality, value-priced stories that break boundaries, crosses genres, and populate the bestseller lists in increasing numbers," but there are many self-published works that do not meet that criteria. The question then becomes: how do you find the gems? The same way you find stories (both trad-pub and self-pub) everyday: recommendations in the form of word of mouth, bestseller lists, and reviews.

This INDIEpendence day, the Indelibles are celebrating indie authors (self-published and small-press) as a whole by holding up examples of outstanding indie works

If you've read a great indie book this year (or last), please join the hop and spread the word (note: this is a Pay It Forward event - please do not post about your own book or an Indelibles' book).

Here's how it works:
  1. PICK A BOOK: Pick an indie (self-published or small press) book that you either HAVE READ AND LOVED or WANT TO READ.
  2. WRITE A POST: On INDIEpendence day (July 2nd), write a post about that book. It can be a review, an interview with the author, or simply a post highlighting the book.
  3. CLICK BELOW: to join the linky that will tie the blog hop together on July 2nd. See the Indelibles Post for more details and a special giveaway the Indelibles are doing as well.
I hope you will join us!

  7. You have a fabulous blog! I’m an author and illustrator and I made some awards to give fellow bloggers whose sites I enjoy. I want to award you with one of my homemade awards: the Powerful Woman Writer Award. There are no pass along requirements. This is just to reward you for all the hard work you do!

Go to http://astorybookworld.blogspot.com/p/awards.html and pick up your award.

I may sign up if I have time. I'm finishing a book now (that started indie...Fifty Shades Darker ;) and my next read is an indie, so if I can finish it in time I will! (The other indies I've read I've already posted and raved about in the past couple years :)
