Dear Writer-Friends,

I've been self-publishing since 2011, and I've shared the knowledge I've gained in two books: the Indie Author Survival Guide, Second Edition, and For Love or Money. I'm not an indie rockstar or a breakout success: I'm one of thousands of solidly midlist indie authors making a living with their works. These books are my way of helping my fellow authors discover the freedom of indie publishing. Write on, writer-friends!

INDIEgiving - A Way to Give Back

In the spirit of thankfulness and giving,

the Indelibles bring you INDIE-giving!

This blogfest will run from November 18-25 (the Sunday-to-Sunday surrounding Thanksgiving).

During this week, each participating blogger will reflect on her or his blessings and share something with visitors.  Some may choose to give away a book.  Some may choose to share the best piece of advice they wished they'd known before they published.  The choice of what to share will be as unique as the individual blogger.  The only requirement is that you open your heart in the spirit of thankfulness and giving.

Although this is something we could do individually, banding together to share our blessings seemed like the right thing to do.  If you'd like to join us, add your name to the linky list on the Indelibles blog and get your post ready for November 18th.  Whether you're an Indie author or just love reading Indie books, we hope you'll join us.  We can't wait to see what blessings have been bestowed upon you this year.

  2. I'm all signed up. We don't have to post on the 18th right? That's a Sunday and I don't blog on the weekends (other than to catch up on comments left on Friday). We just have to post sometime during the week, right?

    1. Since it's a linky that goes live on the 18th, if you don't have a post up then, people will hop to your site and not see a relevant post. However, they will also be hopping during the week/later, so you could catch them then. You'll have more traffic if you post on the 18th. Thanks!

  3. And when you say Indie, do you mean only self-pubbed or are small press authors welcome too?

    1. When I use indie, I usually mean self-pub, although I think the term encompasses anyone "independent" from the mainstream publishing industry. Especially for something like this, indie is in the all-encompassing sense that includes small press authors who have to do most of their own marketing, just like self-pubbers.

    2. Thanks! The term is so squishy anymore, I hesitate to apply it to myself. Yet, if I'm not mistaken, it started as a term to describe small press authors, before self-pubbing took off, that is. Regardless, I'm definitely signing up for this hop! Yippee!!

    3. It did, but it's been thoroughly co-opted (stolen, some say, who are not pleased with the development). :) I'm both small-press and self-pub and I don't tend to quibble with terminology. Call yourself what you wish, just own the title when you do! :)
