Dear Writer-Friends,

I've been self-publishing since 2011, and I've shared the knowledge I've gained in two books: the Indie Author Survival Guide, Second Edition, and For Love or Money. I'm not an indie rockstar or a breakout success: I'm one of thousands of solidly midlist indie authors making a living with their works. These books are my way of helping my fellow authors discover the freedom of indie publishing. Write on, writer-friends!

The Writing Cave

This is my world.

I'm hitting the keyboard hard this week, trying to get some words out. Writing serials is a crazy-pants pace, but really not much different than my normal writing schedule.

We're on the third revision.

This year I plan to:
  • Finish writing and publishing season one of Debt Collector
  • Put out the audio version of Open Minds, and possibly the other two Mindjack novels
  • Revise and publish Third Daughter, my steampunk fantasy romance
  • Revise and submit my MG Fantasy to agents/editors
  • Write, revise, and possibly publish the first book in the Singularity series (YA SF)
See? Crazy-pants.

Which brings me back to... getting some writing done today. And tomorrow. And the rest of the week.

What are you working on right now?

  1. Wow, that's a lot of projects! Best of luck with it all. I'm working on the third book in a series and I'm hoping to have that finished and submitted to my publishers along with the second book later this year. I tend to work on one series at a time to avoid confusion, but I do have several other new projects waiting for me to start them!

  2. I'm still working on my first story, a fun fan fiction project I've been using to learn how to write fiction, but I've started a new story of my own, so I'm keeping myself plenty busy.

  3. I love your writer mouse! So adorable!

Good luck with all your projects!

This week, I'm editing my fantasy short story collection before it goes to another critique partner. Fun, fun!

  4. You are pretty much a superstar. Wow, wow, wow.

I'm working on dummies for two picture books I started in January. Hope this will be a chance to "see" what needs work one last time before I send them off to my agent.

  5. Working on editorial revisions with the tightest deadline I've ever had -- at one of the most stressful times of year for the day job -- and trying not to cry/freak out/throw myself on the floor for a tantrum.

  7. That's amazing. I'm working on final edits of a book I plan to have out this June, and am trying to figure out which of two projects will be my next... You make me think I should be doing both of them. :) I'm looking forward to the reading list you're putting together there...

  8. You are such a powerhouse! I should be writing, but I've been preoccupied with the upcoming release.

  9. You are a perfect person for me to follow! I've only written three full novels in the past 8 months... lazy compared to you!

Can't wait to read your stuff, although that won't help me write more will it?

    bah !

    ;)

    1. Three full length novels in 8 months is HUGE - I think I've only done one in six before.
